1 Black Suite
(sold out)

Our top room. Accessible from an internal staircase from the 1800’s and located on the terrace of Palazzo Daniele is our Black Suite. A 75m² studio, including a kitchen, 1 bathroom with shower, a living room and a large 1500sqm terrace; view of the town square and courtyard. Maximum occupancy 2 adults.

Passing through the frescoed halls of Palazzo Daniele and opening an ancient secret door, a steep stone staircase leads to an invisible black cube with clean aesthetics, furnished with minimal design, important artworks by such artists as Thea Djordjadze and Francesco Arena, and a few pieces that evoke memories.

This contemporary 85 sqm penthouse is perched atop the palazzo and has a commanding view of the property. The living room, an urban jungle, is furnished with a Lirico Sofa by Driade and a fully furnished kitchen. In the bedroom, dramatically draped linen hides the wardrobe and the minimal bathroom with freestanding washbasin.

The biggest thrill, though, is the 1500sqm private terrace, an outdoor space that circles the palazzo central courtyard.

1 floor suite, 1 bedroom with double bed, walk in shower, 1500 sqm of private terrace, views on the beauty of the entire Palazzo

Please note that there is a steep flight of stairs to access the black suite, which is not suitable for people with reduced mobility.

Food

The cuisine is crafted upon layers of ancient Salento and Apulian tradition. The focus of the Palazzo’s kitchen is bringing guests back to the very beginning, respecting the seasons along with simple, nearby ingredients that allow for outstanding dishes created by combining ancient and contemporary techniques. The Palazzo offers the experience of four local cooks, each with strong personalities and generational roots in the Salento region. The kitchen’s focus is keeping each dish essential – free of all artificial, unnecessary components.

Natural Wine

The food philosophy is combined to the concept of Natural Artisanal Wine that speaks of love for the land and respect for times and manual practices, far from business at all costs, natural wine today is consolidated reality, culturally necessary, made up of people, sacrifices, real wines in short, spontaneous fermentations, indigenous yeasts and zero use of chemistry, a real wine.

  • Puglia is a hidden gem in Italy. I highly recommend a weekend stay before and/or after the retreat in two places: Valle D’itria and Lecce.

  • Probably the most popular area of Puglia, famous for the Trulli, is the Valle d’Itria. Marked by cute white houses, the trulli and beautiful landscapes in a valley, the Valle D’Itria is worth visiting. Alberobello is the main town for the trulli, but also in the surrounding towns such as Cisternino, Locorotondo and Martina Franca. The dreamily beautiful Borgo Egnazia is one of the loveliest places to stay in all of Italy. www.borgoegnazia.com

  • Lecce is a Salento must see. This small city is nicknamed “The Florence of the South” due to its beautiful baroque architecture. It’s well worth spending a day or two away from the coast to explore the golden, extravagantly carved churches, picturesque piazzas, and excellent bars and restaurants.

  • A highly recommended hotel for Lecce is The Risorgimento Resort.
